- Turn off the air conditioner:
You must switch off your air conditioner before doing any AC maintenance. Switch the thermostat off to turn off the interior unit.
Then there's a breaker box outdoors, right next to the condenser unit. To turn off the electricity to the outside unit, flip the breaker.
Turn it off for window and portable alternatives. After that, disconnect it.
- Disconnect the hoses and covers:
A portable air conditioner has a vent pipe that must be maintained in a window. Remove the hose from the rear of the device before starting to work on it.
- Clean and replace all of the filters:
